I took the boys to one of the bigger playgrounds near us today, which features an entire area seemingly just for toddlers. They had THE BEST time! We played in the sand first, then on the slides and for the grand finale, their favorite, the swings. I was actually walking to the grocery store with them (decided to turn the trip into a workout since it’s a two-mile trek) and figured it wouldn’t hurt to let them work out any excess energy before dinner and bedtime. I think this is the first time they’ve actually been able to enjoy playing on a jungle gym and since the playground attaches to a local community center, there were tons of plastic toddler toys just hanging out for anyone to use.
It was an awesome outing for them and perfect for me, since there was plenty to entertain them within a smallish area! While we did work on our walking skills, they’re still far from running around, so I’m sure my views of the grounds will change when I’m chasing them in opposite directions. Joy of twins, amirite?!
I also thought it was funny that two other moms struck up the same conversation with me. First, they asked if the boys were twins, then their age and finally tried to find a polite way to ask if I was their mom or the nanny. I must have either looked too relaxed or too hyper, not sure which.
We did manage to make it to the store afterward and the boys actually were pretty angelic throughout (one minor scream fest averted by a granola bar) and ended up taking a catnap on the walk home. Since it was late in the evening, the playground was full of other tots and parents and while I didn’t make any insta-friends, I think I’ll make this a habit, since some of them seemed like normal people. You know, because I’m sure I look like a sane and totally got-it-together mom. Not!
(ps) I managed to finally get all of the India photos off the SD cards and onto my computer. Editing now – we took almost 30 gigs worth of memories, so it’s taking a while to work through it all. Expect a few image-heavy posts later this week!
