Birthday/Superbowl FEAST!

E’s birthday is February 7th, which means it always falls on or around the SUPERBOWL (anyone else hear that in a booming voice and see flashing lights?)! It’s not quite a holiday birthday, but it’s pretty close considering we always end up celebrating his day while gathered around the TV screaming “YES, NO, RUN, COME ON REF” at big honking men in little tight tights. Last year, I bought E a grill for his birthday, so we spent the first half of the game putting the damn thing together and then grilling up burgers as the final few minutes played out.

This year, I’m having none of that. Our awesome friend Amanda has offered to cook up some treats, including stuffed dough rolls, cookies and possibly her famous 12 hour lasagna (crazy, right?!). Besides E’s favorite cake (carrot) or a to-die-for cheesecake, I’m leaning towards doing ‘football gourmet’ nibblies like these:

1. Jalapeno Popper Spread

2. Bloomin’ Onion Bread

3. Avocado Fries

4. Baked Butternut Squash Fries

5. White Castle-like Sliders

6. Crispy Southwest Chicken Wraps

I haven’t tried any of them before, but man do they look good. How about you guys? Anyone going traditional with burgers and dogs, or are you more about dips, chips and beer? Good, because you know we are too!

Penny for your thoughts?
